Factory-compatible crossbar Bike racks
« on: April 28, 2014, 02:24:52 PM »
I've been toying with the idea of buying a bike rack for my wagon.  I like the fork mounting style where the front wheel is removed.  I don't have or really want a hitch, so the rear bumper styles are not desired.  Does anyone have a factory accessory rack like this?  Or perhaps a photo of one?  It'd be cool to use the original AMC equipment, but I'll settle for an affordable aftermarket.  I'm also looking for one that'll fit my OEM Cherokee crossbars.  Am I looking for a rack that works with "oval/OEM" crossbars?

This one is a good price, if it'll work:  http://www.swagman.net/products/roof-mount-racks/standard/

Any gutter rail aftermarket track will work. Then you just gotta got the fork mounting bike rack for it. I still have a thule one that I had on the Wagon for awhile.

Although mine didn't have a roof rack to start with so it didn't look weird with a double rack.

That would work, but those drip rail racks plus the bike equipment are a little out of my budget (I'm no serious cyclist).  I'd like something I can clamp to the factory cross bars.

It'd be cool to find an original. Do you have a photo of it?

I had one for my Subaru, it seams that it could have fit on an Eagle with a rack, maybe with some modification. Maybe you can find someone selling one where you can take a look at it?
