sunroofs?
« on: December 24, 2013, 01:29:36 AM »
was just browsing when a thought popped in my head... did kammebacks have sunroofs, or is that just the sx4? (I cant imagine the wagon with one, and I've never seen a sedan with one.)

I think some kammebacks had sunroofs but I can confirm that some sedans had them as I have seen some with one.

The dealer brochure lists pop up sun roofs and does not specify any exclusions.  I checked our price data chart posted elsewhere and I see they were only available thru '83.

I believe they were much more common on the SX/4, but I have seen them on the Kammback and the 2 door Sedan.

We call them automatic sprinklers here. Always seem to leak
AMC/Jeep gauges are for amusement only. Any correlation between them and reality is purely coincidental!

Yeah, over time they did not have a great reliability record.

I installed my on Sunroof on my old Ford Festiva. Never had a problem with leaking. My SX/4 also has a sunroof, but I have not been in it enough to know if it is leaking or not. I haven't seen any major signs on the inside that would make me think it's leaking. If it is, you can buy new seals and also take the sunroof out and re-caulk where it seals to the roof.

At least they were better than new Jeep Patriots were in the past.  They leaked from the factory until MoPar finally figured out why.

They are pretty easy to install. Well the little pop-up ones anyways. Which is what came on the Eagle.

Can't seem to find any pics of a Kammback with a sunroof, but I think I know someone that has one and I'm pretty sure the one that was recently sold on eBay from AZ had a sunroof.

Here are a few pics of the 2 Door with a sunroof.

I looked at those pictures and had to laugh. The brown is hidden pretty well by the rocks.  I guess it is a light truck.

My SX-4 sunroof is still holding a good seal.  but my rear window seal started leaking last year.  I am seriously thinking of stripping her down, pulling out all the windows and giving her a fresh paint job.  I have a few spots were surface rust is getting aggressive.  Have to put a stop to that before It ends up as Cancer. rusted thru.
