How much should an engine rebuild cost?
« on: March 19, 2013, 06:36:23 PM »
So I am about to take my Eagle in for (in my opinion) some major work this week. I know an engine rebuild can entail a lot of things and can be done to higher or lesser degrees of completeness. What have you paid for a rebuild on a 258? Also what do you all think is a reasonable shop rate? Thanks everyone.

-Milled .005
-Head Reworked with Valves, Springs, Etc.
-Sealed Power Pistons

-Clevite 77 Bearings
-Melling Oil Pump
-Isky Cam and Lifters
-Cloyes Double Roller Timing Set.
-Fuel Pump
-Water Pump
-TFI Ignition Upgrade

-Carb Rebuild Kit

And Probably a few other things I can't remember.

$1400 bucks for everything exept new carb and dizzy I added, (included all the gaskets I needed to finish it up as well) but I had the shop do everything exept remove and replace the engine, I have done it before but felt more comfortable with the 30K mile warranty if they reassembled it.

Got 160K miles out of it once, gonna go for it again!!

That sounds about like what I expected it would cost for a typical rebuild.
