stock u bolt size??

 I need to order a new set of u bolt for the rear axle and not having the the car here with make it tough to measure, so what is the dia of the axle tube? thanks

Are you going with a stock axle? If not, the other options (Jeep 8.25 and Ford 8.8") are bigger diameter. NAPA number 730-4454 I think (3" ID)
AMC/Jeep gauges are for amusement only. Any correlation between them and reality is purely coincidental!

I ordered my replacement u-bolts from ESPO Springs 'N Things.  They knew what size I needed.  They were a little longer than needed, but the right diameter.
