Parking Brake Adjustment

Is there any way to adjust the parking brake other than the nut at the equalizer? I replaced all three cables and the equalizer on my SX/4, however the front cable must be for a wagon because it's extra long. It works somewhat, but the brake still isn't strong enough to hold the car still on a slight incline.

I've adjusted it at the nut, but it just gets harder to push the brake instead of tightening them up more. The tsm is no help because it says to use a special dealer tool.

The nut is the only adjustment I know of.
You could try adjusting the rear shoes a little closer to the drum.
Sometimes you can get them to self-adjust by just backing up and pumping the brakes.

My parking brake has always been on the weak side too for some reason though.

I had been thinking about doing that, though I never got around to it for some reason. I've replaced literally everything in the brakes except for the combination valve up front, so it ought to adjust properly.

on my racecar i had to tighten up the parking brake because it was so loose you could still push the car by hand with the brake fully engaged. it is very similar to the ones in our Eagles. all i did was grab a couple of wrenches and some liquid wrench (it was kinda crusty and was a pain to turn) i used one wrench to hold the housing (or splitter if you like) while using the other one to turn the bolt head and they tightend right up and now not even three people pushing on it can move it when the e brake is engaged.
