New eagle fanboy
« on: December 14, 2012, 06:00:13 PM »
Hey everyone!
I thought I'd make an official appearance here, I'm fairly new to the Eagle scene as an owner but have grown up with them through most of my childhood. I had been looking around for one of my own for a while and the beginning of November I finally bought one! :hyper:

 I got a 1983 Sx4 project

It's going to need a bunch of work to get it back on the road, since it's been sitting since '08 but I'm very excited to get it flying again.

Allow me to award this gentleman his first egg for acquiring this lovely bird.

Welcome, Zebo, to the 'nest.

It's interesting this '83 has a power-bulge hood that looks like it's always been there.:eagle:

Didn't all SX/4s come with power buldge hoods?

I thought power bulge hoods didn't show up until after 1985...but by then SX/4s were no longer made.  ??? ??? :eagle:

I asked the same question a while back.   I think maybe all SX/4s came with the power bulge.
I'm right 98% of the time, and I don't care about the other 3%.

Welcome to the nest! That is a nice looking SX-4 you have there. It even has the rear bumper end caps! How is it rust wise underneath? All of the information you could want on these cars and any parts you may need is right here. It's helped me out with my wagon many times.

All SX-4's had the power bulge hood. It only showed up on the wagons and sedans in 1985
1986 AMC Eagle Wagon Limited. Work in progress. Most likely have the only one in town. :)

Well as for the rust since its a New England car that had been driven through the winters it's definitely not clean underneath, but the underneath of the car is fairly decent overall. There are a few bad spots along the frame on the drivers side, and i have yet to pull the carpet to check for floor damage. I should be able to start dealing with the rust right around Christmas, and I'm sure I'll find a few surprises.

OK..I've never experienced the SX/4 for myself, so I've learned something today about power bulge hoods.

I sincerely trust your SX/4 does not have a terminal case of rust. I am, however, encouraged by your realistic approach. Best wishes to you as you get into this SX/4. :eagle:
