Staying in 4x4...

Hello. So my car has no issue shifting into 4x4 but won't shift out, at least for a long time. NON-disconnect axle (it's an '85 SOTF)...it has only been doing this since I replaced my T-Case. I would think if I had a real problem, it would be the opposite problem.

I've pinched stuff between the brackets and the body, and melted cables on the exhaust if it's not routed just right.

Do you hear any hissing from the switch?

Well, the funny thing is that it shifts smoothly into 4x4...and very quickly...however, it is very slow (like miles it seems sometimes) to come out. I just hear a quick hiss when I move the switch, and that is it.

It has been doing this since I had the "new" t-case installed...so maybe there is a line aloof somewhere....just seems weird one way works great and going back, not so much.

There's two lines going down there, one for each direction, and of course if the original connectors are on the ends than they're swollen and loose from the inevitable oil leaks. You can just trim them off and use a short piece of vacuum hose in place of the connector.
