Hmm, weird that my post went poof... I replied to this thread awhile back answering some questions. Ugh!

Anyway, the idea was to try to get all the different models done in the line-art format and release one each year until we got all of them done. I like the cartoon style art as well. I was thiniking maybe two shirts this year... one as a Nest special and then one for the Meet that only attendees received. Maybe do the line-art shirts for the Nest and the cartoon one for the Meet? Though that creates another problem in itself. Shirts are expensive to have made and they don't sell as well as what we'd like hence the reason we only had half as many pressed this year and I've still got a box full of them as well as a box from last year. I think two competing shirts would hurt each other in the long run. But of course, no one is going to say "No you can't make your own t-shirts!", lol!

I say we hold out and let the voting run for awhile and go from there. When we get a little closer, we'll lock the poll and then maybe start another for altered cartoonish style or line art traditional style. As far as having them printed, I'm in talks with another company that knows all to well how these last guys do business and are ready to show us how it's done. But again, let's wait it out and let the chips fall where they may in time.

Anybody seen "CARS 2"?  If the shirt is in cartoon style then it should be Micks lifted kammback driving over "Mater". Some thing like- Mater squashed, tongue sticking out and his eyes crossed, with Micks tire tracks all over him, and you see the back of the Kammback partially on top of Mater. And written in the dust on the back window is "THIS AINT NO LEMON".
If you have seen the movie you will understand.

Cool, I will be locking voting soon and then taking more votes on style whether we go with line art or cartoon style. The cartoon style will depend on many things but I too like that style and will do what I can.

As for using Mick's as a template - that will be kind of hard to do as well. I think our best bet if we did that is use the line art and then color it to look like Mick's. My only concern (and I use the word "concern" very lightly, lol) is that so far we've done all the cars in the factory standard and I really wanted to keep with trend until we had a t-shirt out for every model year. Of course, the first year was cartoony but that was kind of our test run. I'm not too happy with last year's SX4 so at some point I'd like to redo it as well in another year or something.

So I'm really up for all options - just personally would like to keep the traditon rolling. When we first started making the t-shirts, that was the plan - to build a collection of shirts of every Eagle model. That's probably the biggest reason I'd like to stick with line art - beside the fact it's much much easier and cheaper to make.

But again - all options are on the table assuming I can find the right artist this year. And we really need to get in more pre-orders this year because the price is rising to make these shirts and the demand has been declining. :( I've still got shirts from every year except the first year and a TON of this past year's shirts.

I like the idea of line art... can I just say that the huge, solid, thick graphics can make the t-shirts uncomfortable to wear, especially in hot weather... maybe less is more?  Also, last years shirt was hard to actually make out the vehicle as the medium does not lend itself well to detail.

I would like to see a simpler design that says what it need to say without feeling like I am wearing a plastic breastplate!  (I found another old "Evo 4x4" shirt Mick, and I LOVE IT!)

Going to check the other page for dates, but, once again, I hope it does not interfere with the IFSJA Ouray invasion (July 18-20th)  as I am committed for that,. though, if it were really close to that maybe I could make it all in one trip!

Looking forward to seeing you fine folks again!

Jesse

Yeah, I wasnt happy with last year's design... the company screwed them up. The detail was way off but I didn't have time to get them fixed AGAIN. I fought with them for months. Will never use them again. My favorite shirt was the first year but I wish we'd have done a different color for the cotton - the rest was awesome!

Anyway... each year they get better and better and we learn how to fix mistakes and what ideas work better. By the time we cycle through all the models - we'll have them down PERFECT! And then we can start over from the begining! And then do lifted models and exo-skelton models and and all sorts of stuff.

Eventually, I'd like to see just an AMC Eagle Nest shirt with the logo and maybe a cool quote on the back or something. Lots of ideas.

Anyway, last time I checked... the top leader was the two-door sedan so that's what I've been working on. Now the Kammy has 20+ votes? They kind of came out of nowhere... especially when I thought I locked the poll a long time ago, lol!

Let me see what kind of art I have for the Kammy and we'll go from there, otherwise it's more than likely going to be the 2dr Sedan this year. I played around with some of the cartoon stuff and I'm just not that good. The guy that does my graphics starts with the line art and goes from there. I sent him the line art for the Sedan awhile back - just forgot to post here. But again, I'll see what I can do and we'll go from there!

He's actually working on doing a duo... with both sedan models on the same shirt since they're basically the same thing. I'll wait and see what he comes up with and post it here. In the mean time I'm going to officially lock the poll for real this time.

Throw my 2 cents in...'
When looking for a printer, please allow me to at least give a bid on the shirts.  I have the resources to do that (along with other items) alwyas attempting to do it in a way for clubs and groups to make money on.  So at least compare prices.

Also check out my site www.a70sthingautomobilia.com and look into the Calendar pictures for 2012 calendar projects.  There are a couple pics there of a Canadian Eagle submitted and some sweet angles, degrees and background.  IF interested I can look back into it and dig up the owner.  She was very cooperative.  Also was a couple other Eagles submitted.

Good Luck and Thanks for listening,

Javelinman, so you press shirts yourself? If so, I will definitely be in touch. I'd much rather give the business to a Nester. You would have to be able to convert gif or preferably pdf files for the artwork and also be able to print multiple colors/screens. I know the basics of the process so I try to keep the colors flowing in a way that makes it easier/cheaper on the guys pressing them but we still have some pretty detailed designs we work with.
