Howdy.

Lookin through these threads it seems I might be a bit of an odd duck, though that's not really anything new.  I don't currently have an Eagle, but Mom and Dad had one when I was growing up (an 80 wagon) and kept it til I was most of the way through high school.  Never drove it to school, but "learned to drive" on it since that was Dad's daily driver while I had my permit.

We had a particularly nasty driveway that, combined with midwest winters, was nearly impassible without shoveling.  Dad's requirement for a 4wd American made vehicle and wanting a car pretty much limited us to the Eagle in the early 80s (replacing a pair of Scout IIs ;) .  When I got into Boy Scouts it became almost a member of the troop making nearly every camp out as I earned my Eagle.  It was the perfect size for the cabin tent, a 48 gallon cooler, all our gear for a weekend and room for one or two of the other scouts and their gear.

As a teenager I looked at an SX/4, and a friend of mine had one with the aluminum slots and a station wagon his mom had for parts.  Those were just too small for me though, especially after the wagon, so I've always kind of wanted a 2dr sedan (though I think they are referenced here as coupes).  Have looked at a couple over the years, but things just haven't worked out to actually acquire one.

I've married into Jeeps and we are about 90% done with the restoration of an 84 Cherokee Chief (wife's first "car").  In searching out some bits I ran across info on the Sundancer conversion and the information found here ... that would be a cool car for sure :)

Anyway "hey!" and maybe we'll see about getting to one or more of the gatherings and meeting people here and offer a hand when I can.

Welcome Bill.  I think you can change your user name without affecting your log in information.  You are not an odd duck at all.  You have used an Eagle more than some folks around here and if you want to get back into them there is always a few good wagons for sale.  The two door sedan/coupe is much harder to find as it was only available for three model years.   You are correct about them being sedans.
