Okay folks, I need a little assistance with my project.
 I've been reading forums and posts for about 5 hours now  and I can't find what I'm looking for. Please help me find the information I need to install the 4.0 full drive train with automatic into my wagon. I've been reading stuff about 5 wire to fire articles but no actual diagrams that tell me what wires to use from the Eagle to the Jeep harness. I pulled 95% of the XJ wiring and need to adapt it to the Eagle harness. When it comes to the mechanical I do okay but wiring is a different issue.
  If it matters I am putting in both axles and would like to use the Jeeps ABS as well.

To make it a bit easier you can swap in a steering column from an XJ Cherokee if you are using OBD1, it becomes dirt simple. Everything else from the wiring is a very simple swap with a few minor modifications.

P.S. send me those wiring diagrams too :P

I kept everything from the Cherokee.  Will be going to the library on Thursday to get the schematics for that and the Wagon that it's going into.

I’m  beginning  a ‘95 4.0 ho OBD1 swap. Into my 1984 wagon. I’ve collected the engine, wiring harness and computer.

I’ve heard two schools of thoughts on the wiring....

1st) remove from the xj wiring harness only the few (5?) wires required
to “fire” /run the engine and splice,power,and ground these wires into the eagle harnass

2nd) install the entire wiring harness from the XJ. Seems like it works for all the lights, fuel pump, has the fuse box, ecm everything. Sounds like the xj steering column is required.

Both sound doable to me, but is there advantages/disadvantages to either route?
I’m leaning towards the 2nd choice, partially  because I’m guessing it has better head light wiring        but am curious


And as I’m looking for parts I’ve come a cross a bunch of nice 1999-2002 Grand Cherokees with blown motors. It made me wonder....could you do this swap to a newer Jeep? Ditch h the obd2 wiring,sensors ,ECU, ext and swap in the same 4.0L HO OBD1? It would have to be a manual transmission I’m guessing because there computer controlled transmissions.

I did this to my Gremlin used the whole harness. Only hooked up the wires needed to run and trimmed or cut the wires I didn't need. I have schematics I can send to you to help figure which wires are used.
