82 Concord DL woodie wagon 39K miles & Texas title

Just got this 1982 original owner, 39,000 mile Concord DL out of paint shop, neat color
Slate Blue, so spent some time taking photos of it as will be putting it, along with
several other of my wagons, up for sale possibly in May, just don't need 14 AMCs. This one
is a fun driver though and Paige might convince me to keep it.

How many of you have ever seen a factory installed towing package? It was called LOAD
LEVELLER back then and is a air compressor under hood on passneger engine bay. You not
only can adjust shocks in back once you have trailer bolted up, but also use the remote to
fill up beach balls, ties, soccer balls and what not as it has a different valve for that:

here is the original 1982 Texas title....sold new at Vance & Sons AMC in Houston, that
dealership had been around since 1912 and was in Bellaire....I would later buy out their
inventory after they shut down but by they they were called Western AMC Jeep Renault. The
place is still there and now subdived and one 1/2 sells car stereos and does detail work,
other area is Taco Bell. The dealership in it's heyday was high volume place, this is off

my 68 Rebel convertible 'Machine' is from same place, and when I restored it in 1986-88, I
purposely left the original Vance & Sons decal on rear bumper so didn't have it chromed.
The Rebel was sent to Vance by AMC and no one wanted to pay $4500 for a convertible 68
Rebel (tons of money in 1968, but it is the heaviest optioned one made of only 832 last
year convertibles AMC ever made; here's the build sheet)

so Richard Brumgardt, the AM parts Manager bought it in almost 1971, and I bought it from
him in 1985.

Back to the Concord...when replacing the spacer panel between rear bumper & body (you
know, the rubbery thing that gets brittle and falls apart on Hornet, Concord & Gremlin) I
took care to get off the Vance & Sons piece intact:

which while the panel itself was sun baked from relentless Texas summers here in Houston,
came off in one piece! How often do you see a original Texas title car, or a title of any
AMC from dealership long since faded into history?

Too bad AMC didn't Ziebart their cars going back into the 60s, heck, Ziebart been around
as long as I have been...1959. I think AMC started Ziebarting their cars in 1979 due to
some severe quality control issues in 1973-78, especially 76-78 years. Might be why so
many Eagles still running around in 2011 still. Horror stories of less than 2 year old
AMCs with fenders, rockers, floorboards and 1/4s rotting out were common in mid 1970s
though. You might not even have paid AMC car loan off and can already look down at tires
thru tops of fenders or use feet to stop like Fred Flintstone. Good job though on the
Ziebarted cars, some of the later model AMCs I have had pleasure of owning (like this
photo taken 04.16.2011)

polished the AMC chrome rims on Lester the 74 Hornet Sportabout, which also will be going

More great pix Eddie.  Quite a few of our member's Eagles have the load leveler option.  Some even still work.  What is rarer to find is the accessory package that came with it.
