Speedometer O ring ?
« on: February 17, 2011, 12:08:39 PM »
Anyone know where to get the alledged special O ring for putting the speedometer cable back in ?? It says everywhere to be sure to replace it with a new one, and my parts guy doesn't have a listing for it. I figured the dip stick would just be a regular O ring ??Or are they both "special" ? Thanks

Its a "crush" O ring, supposedly to only be used once.  I would think any MoPar parts source could get them.

I Just re-used my old ring and added a bead of Blue RTV sealant around the outside edge.  When I go back in this spring to adjust the speedo cable (Speedometer is showing about 12 kmh slower that actual speed) I will just put another bead of Blue RTV on it again, then fill the t-case.  My T case is an NP119 so it uses 10W30 oil.  I am not sure how the RTV would hold up to ATF, though.

Cheers

I had put one in, and it leaked. Then I used The Right Stuff by Permtex. Works on everything from Fuel pumps, sending units, thermostat housings too!
