Eagle Sightings / How often do you see another Eagle?

How often do you see Eagles out and about?

In my life, I have seen three out in the wild, but neither one on the road. A wagon in southern KS, another wagon in a backyard in SW WI, and the third one, an SX/4 in a junkyard. I have seen a number at the Kenosha show in 2022, but I don't consider that to be "out in the wild" along with a black SX/4 at a couple of car shows.

Question and Answer / Eagle hitch
« Last post by 89 MJ on December 07, 2024, 01:21:33 PM »
Does this look like a factory/dealer installed hitch? It bolts to both the bumper and the rear crossmember. The trailer wiring is tied into the rear tail light harness with scotch locks, but I have plans on fixing that.

As a side note, these cars tow very well, or at least mine does with its different gearing and slight performance upgrades. I towed roughly 1500 pounds or so with it and could barely feel it back there. Tows as good or better than my Comanche.

Sybolt,

AMCLives typically resells the same parts you can buy on Rockauto. There is no quality difference.

There is polyurethane available for the lower control arm bushing, it's a GM part so plenty of other cars used it. Prothane 64055 or Energy Suspension 3009, I believe. You'll probably have to buy it as part of a kit. However, I personally recommend against using polyurethane for the lower control arm bushings and strut rod bushings. i think rubber is a better choice there due to the compound motion they experience.

For the spring perch bushing there is a thread here which explains how to convert them to poly using the "John Elles" method. Rubber has long been discontinued.

Good day!

I'm making some progress on getting my Eagle ready for the road. Received a complete polyurethane bushing kit from Prothane, as well as replacement leaf springs, H4 headlights etc. and we're trying to fit everything to the car. But I'm hoping you can help me with some question I still have.

I am missing the lower control arm bushings for the front wheels (oddly, they are not part of the Prothane kit) and I'm comparing the ones at AMCLives with Rockauto. It seems like polyurethane isn't available for these bushings. Strangely, AMCLives ones cost the same as the Rockauto ones TIMES 3. Is the quality that different? Or am I looking in the wrong place and is there a PU option?

Furthermore, I noticed the connection between the upper control arm and the front coil spring holder also has some very worn rubber bushings. I can't find these anywhere online, does anyone know if there is a solution for this?

Thanks a bunch!

Yessir, thanks for help. Heating up caused most of the original Ziebart undercoating to flash off. Able to ascertain bolt heads were T50's( tho I got first bolt loose w a 7mm allen). Got new axle on and no more "clicking". Now on to rear driver side blown brake line.. .
Glad to hear you got it!
