I have located one out of a Kammback 4 banger, 4 speed. Is it an acceptable replacement? I forgot to ask what year Kammback. The one I had was full-time 4 WD. NO switch ('81).

If the Kammback has the ability to be shifted, they both should be the NP229, so yes, it will work. Even if it isn't a shift on the fly case, it would probably work, the CAD on the front axle would just need to be locked in. A later transfer case (85 and newer) should work too (86 had an NP128 that was one year only, but it would still work), those ones were only shift on the fly because the CAD in the front axle was discontinued.

Just to clarify the Eagles never had a NP229, those were found in the Grand Wagoneers. The Eagles had the NP129. (Same shell as the NP229 but without low range)

That's by bad, I fat fingered it

Just another idea for having the part made.
It might be possible to have a tech school or engineering department at a local college or trade school make them too. A nephew of mine was able to make a bunch of different things and offered to make a few parts for my Eagle when he was in College.

Project Cars / Re: 1980 Eagle Sport STW 258+T...

Last saturday was a busy day. I fixed tail gate seal. Used old one, it had some issues, but it is now good to go. Lights, lock and many other items found their places.

Fender flares needed some attention. This was the worst... more hot air and pressure and putty needed...

At this point I remembered those bumper ends and bumper guards... they need some black aint too...
Front bumper parts were in good condition, just removed spary paint out of those. Easy job...

But there were rear bumper parts...

Parts car had these, but nuts were so rusty I could not use those...

Tried to fix with hot air and pressure, no good...

So a little bit sanding and putty...

Smootihing it.

And the other side too...

Metal parts in side of thos rear guards were very rusted, front ones were in mint condition.

Rust had made center part almost 6mm (1/4") higher than rest of the part.

Removed rubber with grinder. Parts were easy to remove aftre that.

Sand blasted metal arts and welded a new bolt. Removed all rust and made space for the putty...

Used vise to press parts together and then filled outer cavity.

Job done. Now I let these all to dry for a week or so...

Quote from: Taylor on August 18, 2025, 12:15:24 PM3D printing is what I was thinking, however they are quite long and my guess that it would need to be scanned and printed in several pieces.
There are 3D printers that are big enough to print them in one piece but they're also really expensive.

Inside Your Eagle / Head liner trim removal?
Last post by EagleSX4_5Speed - August 18, 2025, 06:14:19 PM
I was wondering how to remove the metal trim piece that holds the headliner up. (Circled in red in the pic.) I can't find any screws or obvious clips to remove it.
