Title: New to this stuff
Post by: siguy8 on November 03, 2005, 01:31:14 PM
In the last few weeks I have decided that an SX/4 should be my first car. Now I need to find one and buy it. If anyone knows where a cheap one is I would love any information. I could do some easier work on it if need be. Thanks.

Welcome!  I see you are in Washington State.  Fortunately for you many Eagles were sold out there and are fairly rust free -- unless they have been parked on a salt water beach for the last 20+ years.  We will assist you as we can.  Our official SX/4 locator is under the weather but as soon she is back I bet she will lend a hand.

siguy8 welcome to the AMC Eagle Nest.
I'm sure you will find something soon just keep a sharp eye out when you go up in the 152.

haha. I will for sure. I am looking for a manual... possibly the five speed, but I won't be too picky. Are those very hard to find? If the car runs I am definitely up for a road trip to get one.

Thanks for the contact, but he is in Virginia and I am in Washington State 2,737 miles away. I talked to him, and he does have some, but he doesn't know if they could make a roadtrip like that. Also I probably would go crazy on a trip like that. Thanks.

I'm back! I started this thread before I got my first one, so I thought it would fit to start here.

I owned an 82 SX/4 with the 258 and had to sell it about 4 years ago due to the mileage being horrible and wanting something reliable. I just bought an 82 SX/4 with the Iron Duke and a 5 speed. The previous owner said it got 31 mpg. I'm working on the reliability part now... Many more posts and questions to follow.

Haha. The Air Force has moved me around a couple times since Washougal, WA. I'm in Shreveport, Louisiana now.
