Went down to Vancouver British Columbia to buy this car sight unseen. Had it delivered to a friend who I stayed with for a few days ironing it out prior to my drive home to Nakusp British Columbia.
I have wanted an eagle for most of my adult life but the car never fit in a commuter or off-road role for me. Now I live off grid, my wife finally wanted to get her own car and it needed to be rugged. EAGLE!
I'm happy this is a low optioned car, I read often complaints about how hard these cars are to work on... I have been working on eliminating the dumb, to make it as reliable as I can for my wife and it hasn't been too bad.
As the car sits she's pretty well cared for. Previously I suspect it was restored professionally and many quirks worked out. This car is already a mechanical transfer case for example. At some point a big leaf was added to the rear for height, front I imagine is a taller coil??? Can't see where the height in the front is from... And longer cv axles? This car is tall!
Currently waiting on a new rock auto Carter non feedback carb as this carb runs but starves out of fuel, runs rich and has a non functioning choke.
Then if that helps and resolves my running issues I may or may not do a DUI distributor.

Picking away at the things as I go. This month has been:
Oil change, fluid top ups, soldered radiator leak, new alternator, new fuel pump, new fuel filter on carb, new upper ball joints, new shocks, new steering damper, new brake lines to rear with new brakes and full flush, In the last 3 months previous owner, valve grind and adj. with a few things worked on, head gasket, valve cover, gaskets on top end.
Looks like a nice car and should be great for the Mrs. I know you've already got a carb ordered, but I'd recommend looking at a Motorcraft 2100/2150 swap. I also have a DUI distributor on my car, it's well worth it. Welcome to the forum.
You can use the dipstick and tube from a 4.0 or if you're lucky you can find one on another 258. And as MJ said that is a nice looking car.

The 4.0 dipstick tubes are a direct swap but just remember that the 4.0 has a 6 quart oil pan and the Eagle uses a 5 quart oil pan so you will need to custom mark the new dipstick to account for the difference. Drain the oil then add 4 quarts of new oil and check the level on the stick and mark it. That will be your new "Low" level then add 1 more quart (5 total) and mark you new "Full" level.
