I'm looking at having replacement bushings produced for the store. Unfortunately I modified my own quite a while ago and can't find any for sale.
Is anyone able to take some measurements of their unmodified spring perch and perch bushing for me? Photos would be appreciated as well.
I need the distance the bushing sleeve extends from the perch on the non-welded side, the distance the center steel bar extends from each side, and the angle the bar rests at when not under load.
I have not tried this but have heard that they work as replacement for spring perch. https://www.ebay.com/itm/264495487770
I appreciate it, I have poly bushings in now. The measurements will be used to help produce new rubber bushings for those who want them.
I have a bunch of those Rare Parts perch bushings on the shelf I got back when they were "cheap" - like $40 each if I remember correctly. I could dig one out and measure it - if I can find them!
That would be great! I'm sure they're close to the original size.
Please see the attached .pdf for some specs. I'd be happy to sell a few of my Rare Parts bushings - I have more than I need. $100 a pair.
Thank you for doing that it's very helpful; and on Christmas no less! Is the pin centered in the bushing or does it extend more on one side than the other?
I appreciate the offer and I'll DM you if I need a pair.
The pin is centered. Also, the round part of the pin that goes thru the bushing is 0.85 in diameter and 3.37" long -- it sticks out of the bushing just a little to where the flattened part starts.
Thank you very much. That's exactly what I need.
If anyone has the occasion to remove their spring perch I'd appreciate if these measurements could be verified against an original bushing. I imagine they're identical or at least very similar, but it would still be good to know.
Altho I don't have a perch handy; I have used these replacement bushings on 2 of my cars with no problems - so far! They were a good snug fitin the spring seat; but I of course tack-welded the bushing flange to the perch just in case.
Well it's been about 9 months since this project began, but it's finally moving forward. I hope to have real spring perch bushings available by early next year. I have a manufacturer I'm working with to reproduce them. There's still quite a bit of R&D to do, but I hope to recruit a couple of you mechanically minded fellows to help out on that front in the future.
In the meantime can anyone take some pictures of their spring perch bushings? They need to be unmodified with the original rubber still in place. In the car or out is fine, I just need pictures from the front and back where you can see the rubber as clearly as possible.
