What are you guys using to replace the rocker panels?
An extreme solution:
- Cut out the lower outer curve of the rockers and the inner vertical and replace the length with 1/8" steel bar welded at right-angle that has braces to support/enforce the right-angle.
- Leaves the top of the rocker intact (welded in under it), so it can't change any spacing between pillars, etc..
- You can leave enough of the outer metal curve at the top to attach the plastic "rocker" for cosmetics (but for that old '81 I just painted it black like the plastic "rocker" that was deleted).
- (Side effect is it tightens up the flex of the body, for amazing steering.)
Rocker panels for the Kammback and SX/4 are available on eBay, search "AMC Gremlin rocker panels." Some folks have thought about putting two of them together for use on the bigger Eagles but I have not heard if anyone was successful doing that.
Good luck!
