Title: 1981 Kammback Howell TBI throttle body fuel injection install
Post by: masternull on June 24, 2018, 08:54:10 PM
first thing, dirtiest job:

electric fuel pump install
replace steel lines (http://www.americanpartsdepot.com/fueltank.htm)

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1p8RuceTcTN2iTebQEJn6d5wpm0ZIeCaa

clamp for fuel pump was a little too large so i cut some rubber mat to snug it up.
added a 2.75 inch insulated clamp for fuel filter

Thanks for the pictures.  I'm going through the same project right now with a different kit.  It will be interesting to see how the cars compare versus carb.

Did you replace the steel fuel lines all the way forward of the fuel pump?  Thanks.

4.0 head conversion and gronk 2150 carb upgrade done a few years ago:
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1SkqKblqXBjts19VJRBSNJnxd8t3NYGME

removed old Gronk MC 2150 carb and vacuum hoses,
removed computer and wiring harness from it to the CTO and O2 sensor.
installed TBI adapter plate and TBI

https://drive.google.com/open?id=1yUrIdvfpbHwoep0Nm5b6f3nfB5s1_eNx

ran wiring harness thru old computer harness firewall hole (cut grommet to re-use), wiring is just barely long enough to reach everything
https://drive.google.com/open?id=16IIYlSgyXqgVvuxcPdIxop7o2MDhUY67

will have to mount new computer in glove compartment as it too large to fit in old location (passenger kickpanel)

ran into snag, NP119 speedometer cable housing doesnt fit with VSS of Howell kit. started a new thread looking for a speedometer housing swap.
https://drive.google.com/open?id=1uI13zo8ope6Fws208iAvWCWqE__qhwKQ

replaced with one of these and a 28 gear

also needed different speedometer cable:

Howell Speed sensor installed

. Be sure and seal the cap screws with RTV on the adapter plate or you will have a vacuum leak learned the hard way :banghead:
