I just drilled out my bleed tubes and now I have a big flat spot off idle. :( I'm think that I want to ditch this carb for a non emission one anyway. I would really like to get rid of the vacuum line extravaganza and all of the emissions as well.

New at that price and "Carter Type" tells me it's a Chinese copy. There have been problems experienced by other members with Chinese "Motorcraft". If you can find one, I'd consider a rebuilt Carter BBD non feedback before I'd install one of the Chinese carbs. I would search the net and see if you can find any reviews of the import carbs.
Summit offers some Carter type carbs which may be of higher quality. There are also several vendors on eBay that offer rebuilt Carter carbs. Let us know which route you decide to go!
I went ahead and ordered the new "possible China" carb. I just realized that I will need to eliminate the computer in order to run the distributor straight from the ignition module.... hmm... will also need to gut the cat and I can then eliminate a few other choice items.
I will post up my results!

Search the site or the Net for ECM Test bypass, it takes the ECM out of the equation.
I have installed one of GRONK's Motorcraft 2100 kits on two AMC/Jeep 4.2s in the past, and enjoyed the results. Well worth the amount he asks for it.
ECM Test "test" is required for any non-factory-computer-controlled carb, like GRONK's 2100, or a swap to an earlier non-computer Carter BBD.
No need to hollow out the cat unless it is known to be bad, as in rattling/chunks moving around inside it, or you've seen it glowing from trying to handle excess fuel.
Might give the intake manifold bolts a torque check/carb clean spray test while running, they do have a tendency to back out and the resulting vacuum leak can make any kind of carb problem impossible to diagnose/fix.
Woohoo!!! I can't believe how good this car runs! Installed the new carb and did the computer bypass for the distributor. Set the timing, fixed the vacuum lines and it's smooth as butter. ;D

Its great to see there is a low cost option for those who want to keep things relatively stock when it comes to the air filter. The 2100 swap requires using an open element filter or some fabrication/welding to mate a 2100 filter base into the stock filter base. What you have there should easily pass a state inspection.
