Surely a basic tune-up should be the easy part...... :help: I purchased a new distributor cap and rotor at advance auto and new platinum plugs and wires at Napa and finally got around to starting the job yesterday only to find that the new distributor cap is considerably shorter than the one that is on there. called another parts store and double checked the part number BWD C182P. Same thing. How in the world do you find the right one? I could find any measurements in the part descriptions or anything. Now I'm afraid to use the plugs and wires....

Thanks! That crosses over to what I have. I'll try again to install it. maybe I messed up the first time.

Does the new cap also have a larger diameter? A previous owner could have done the conversion to the Ford distributor parts.

I figured out that the cap will fit. It just looked slightly different and I was afraid to push it. I have since realized that every brand looks different. I think I'm going to return the one i have and get one with brass contacts
