Title: Wrong trans mount
Post by: bullfighter on August 01, 2016, 01:51:35 PM
So I went to Oreilly's to get a trans mount and the mount they gave me has four studs welded to it that bolt it to the crossmember with nuts. My original mount has four holes with separate bolts that tighten into my crossmember which has welded nuts inside the crossmember. Is there a different Anchor number I should be looking for or different application? The part I recieved is a #2921. Its an 88 Eagle with 258/auto. Also wondering what fluid it takes, they told me it takes either ATF+4 or Dexron which Ive experienced first hand are not the same  :P Thanx for any help

For an auto trans that mount needs to be modified by cutting it to match your old one. I forget how but just look atbit its pretty much a no brainer.

That's a manual trans mount; auto mounts are not available.  You just have to remove the studs.   The mounts are identical except for the studs.   I usually use a cut-off wheel on a Dremel tool to cut the little stud welds, then wail on the studs with a big hammer and knock them out.

Thanx guys. I was going to do that but I didnt want to ruin an otherwise exchangable mount LOL. Saw a sticky, I think, on the auto mount but it kept redirecting me to a google search site or something. Appreciate the response and Ill get some pics and an intro in the Hatchlings soon!
