Title: Anybody Try Converting to a Servo Front Axle Actuator?
Post by: kevindpm61 on November 20, 2015, 06:52:28 AM
I've been thinking about various options regarding the front axle actuator. Currently, I performed the hose clamp procedure to lock the Dana 30 into all wheel drive. I've read threads about converting to a manual cable pull system. I was just wondering if anybody has toyed with the idea of converting the shift actuator to an electric servo? It's just something that I've been toying with......any input would be appreciated.

Saw Hawk258's thread and have been reading it. Sorry if I'm being redundant.

This is just my opinion.  I don't see the advantage to unlocking it once it's locked in.  More room for error, especially if someone else needs to drive it and isn't familiar with the procedure.  I'm not drive line expert however.  I'm running an early non-disconnect front axle with a Select Drive transfer case and I have no problems.
