Title: S10 Axle Confusion
Post by: RoyalRootbeer on September 26, 2015, 05:26:57 PM
Read on here that the S10 axles would fit. Purchased two of cardone 661000 cv shafts. ( 1985 S10).
went to install and noticed the pilot at the flange end is opposite of what the original eagle has.
see pics.
what gives? any clarification would be appreciated, thanks.
by the way, 1985 amc eagle (Limited), adding spacers at front coil springs at same time as axle replace.

There is a round metal cover that fits on the end of the Eagle axle. Its probably stuck to the differential housing.

Something is wrong there. I don't know the name of the part that is flanged and bolts to the differential, but that looks like one from a full size GM and not an S10.

sorry, but why didn't you just buy Eagle driveshafts, available at any Advance, etc. stores? If you must do the interchange thing, 80s Cadillac Seville, (the funny looking one with the weird rear trunk) uses the exact same drivehafts. i just bought a new one, no problems at all, not too expensive, either. good luck, gz

Thanks Draekon, you're exactly right, never noticed the metal disk that was left on there. Should be all good now!

The S10 shafts are only if your Eagle is lifted a bit.
