Title: Camshafts
Post by: Draekon on March 23, 2015, 07:56:14 PM
I'm planning on doing the 4.0 head swap this spring and want to swap out the cam while I'm at it, but am pretty clueless when it comes to cam profiles and could use a little help.

I'm not looking for anything radical, just something to add a little more pep to the engine that will compliment the 4.0 head.  I know a lot of people use the stock 4.0 cam, but I want something with a fuel lobe.  Looking at Comp Cams offerings, I see that the 240H is the closest they offer to a stock 4.0 cam, and then the 252H is a step up from it.  Would the 252H be too much cam?  I will be building a new exhaust system with the head swap, and eventually will either put on a better carb (currently have a non computer bbd, tried a mc2150 for awhile but it was way worse), or upgrade to TBI.  I'm also open to suggestions from other brands.

For carb it's fine, but I preferred the Crane Bajabeast cam.

When I did the 4.0 head swap, I went with the Comp Cam CL68-115-4.  Seems to be working fine, don't know if it gives me the greatest performance but overall the car has a lot more pep.

There are more details and pictures about my experience in this thread:
