Title: Front Diff. Fluid check...how the heck to reach up and check or add
Post by: JayRamb on August 20, 2014, 02:43:22 PM
I am needing some quick tips on how the heck to check and/or add the front differential fluid. I don't have any leaks. I sure would like to change it out...siphon or something. I am not sure if there is 'shortcut' or 'way' to do this easier! Advice please...How did you do it!

Neither manual goes into it very deeply. It says to remove the cover to drain, then use a new gasket. When the flyuid is level with the fill hole it's full.

You might have better luck with a siphon bottle thingy.

I honestly don't see how it is possible without removing the differential.

I'm not sure it's possible without dropping it down off the engine

But, if you had one that had the front axle switch I suppose you could remove the selector, and jack it up on the drivers side to remove the fluid and then fill it back up?

Sounds silly when I say it, lol, but it's a thought

But when I took my selector off it dribbled a little, so I added some before I put it back on.

Grrr...dang design. Just irritates me that I can't check it even!  I guess I will have to hire a child with small hands huh?! LOL
