Title: Door window alignment
Post by: Nightpath on July 02, 2014, 09:17:41 AM
Hi

Been replacing the window seals and channels in my doors, but the drivers side window doesn't want to align. It was like that when I got it and I've been trying to fix it.

The window tilts down a bit in the front so it leaves a small gap, it also seems like it wants to push out of the door so it presses against the exterior window seal. I've tried loosening the bolt down at the base of the door for the front slider/rail that the window goes into but it hasn't done much.

I do have another door I'm going to take the rail out of though.

Anyone have any suggestions?

The joints could just be dry and binding. Get some of the silicone based brake caliper lube and grease all of the components where they make contact.

Already done. It all moves smoothly but it just wants to go where it wants.

Maybe compare it to the spare. You might notice something bent or out of whack somehow.

I forget, is this a four or two door car?

4 Door.

Figured out a couple of things and have it reasonably aligned.

1 - The front window rail inside the window can be adjusted with a bolt at the bottom. There is also a small screw at the top (located on the door, have to open to see it. About 2-4 inches in forward of the window). Loosen these 2 up and you get a bit of play.

2 - The main bolt for adjusting is at the bottom rear of the door. Loosen it up and push that inconsiderate person down. It got my window in fairly snug now.

Yay :)

Thanks for sharing the solution.  I'm sure somebody is going to find that very helpful.  There are a lot of moving parts and adjustments for the windows, its hard to know where to start.
