Title: Verifying that 4WD is fully engaged
Post by: johnbendik on April 18, 2014, 01:31:19 AM
This is probably a real newby question, but what is a simple, foolproof way of knowing that both parts of the 4WD system are actually actuating (i.e., without getting under the car and examining the component parts)?

If I jack the front end up and spin one front wheel, the other front wheel turns in the opposite direction, so I assume that the front axles are engaged.  But how can I know that the front driveshaft is getting hooked up?  And am I right in my assumption about the front axles?

Thanks,
JohnBen

Try t with one front wheel on the ground. If in 4x4, you should not be able to move the wheel far without major force.
