Title: The Den is Doing Good.
Post by: IowaEagle on December 27, 2013, 01:59:26 PM
Since the Den took over from the Nest, so far in December:

1st place for page views.
2nd place for new posts (January still leads).
5th place of new topics.  Looks like we will finish in 2nd or 3rd place though.

We Are Back!

I've been noticing that there are a lot more items when I click then "unread posts" button

Nice to see it growing!

Thanks for keeping this place going Doug, it's one of my favorite hangouts

I agree, lots of good people on this site.  And I've definitely noticed more activity this month.

We are about where the Nest was, stat wise, back in early 2013.  I just wish we had ALL of the old posts and topics back (from day one) as there was so much good stuff that was lost.  BTW this is the 11th anniversary of the Nest/Den.  Now to start preparing for the next 11 years.  The current admins are getting old and curmudgeonly.

I see the forum is picking up in activity as well, would there be any way to get the word out about about the move to the den?

Seems like word of mouth is working.  I don't know if the mass e-mail thing works any better than it used to ( which it didn't).  I might give that a try to see if it works now.  Many of the registered members last visited long before the Nest went down, or registered and never revisited.

The current admins are getting old and curmudgeonly.

curmudgeonly = crusty: brusque and surly and forbidding; "crusty remarks"; "a crusty old man"; "his curmudgeonly temper"; "gruff manner"; "a gruff reply"

i think that would be exagerated   :rotfl:

I do argue with myself a lot when working here on the Den.  The good thing is that in the past six months no legitimate member has been banned, edited or even asked to tone things down.  Its like it was in the old days and what we used to be known for.  The friendliest Auto Forum on the WWW!

I think a good admin is what makes a forum, or at least from what I have seen from lurking around a few forums. I think steve had disgruntled a few members over the years I sent a few eggs, I mean thumbs up your way doug, as you are doing a great job

100 new posts today!  The last time the Nest/Den had more than 100 posts in a single day was July 17, 2012!

I agree, I hadn't checked in for a day or two, and had a lot of catching up to do

Some of that is probably my doing. I was hesitant to switch back initially and kept to the EVO forum mostly, but now that I've got my thread updated here about Penny I have pretty much switched back completely. I still check EVO everyday, but just don't post as often.

I'm kind of the same way. I loved the old forum, even in the dark days.

That being said, I think Evo is a little lighter, looser forum that I still love and cherish.

I'm still new here, and still learning, but this is a great place to learn!  I've only been here a while, and at this point, even I wouldn't trust something like this on me, but I intend on sticking around, and hopefully being someone that can help out. if sometime in the future, when I know what i'm doing, you need some help on the site, I'm extending my hand right now.   haha.  and i suppose,  i'm just gonna say at this point, as I am new, and probably will be asking endless questions still, I just want to thank IowaEagle, Prafeston, Vangremlin, Whuntmore, Muddog, ect. even if you havn't answered any questions, I probably learned something just from lurking around here. :D I'm sure I'm still forgetting people, but my point is, from what I see, you guys are on here, helping out people, and you guys are making the den do great!  hope I can get an eagle soon, and stick around long enough to be like you guys!

Thanks Kyle, feels good to know I'm help any little way I can! I also hope you can find a good Eagle to have of your own sooner rather than later!

Thanks. To clarify, as far as im concerned, I found the one im looking for, I just have to play the waiting game.  The eagle came with a parts car, and it had about 35k miles on it, so it's being switched to that one.  I'm loving that because it's gonna last me long enough so I can learn how to rebuild an engine, and then some. The weather, and holidays lately have been slowing Down the process, but I should be getting it soon... And I can't wait!

I'm hoping Penny will be out of the shop by the end of the month and then I'll be about to possibly start seriously considering selling my Protege5 and picking up that Yellow Kammback in MI. Guess it depend on if it's still for sale by then and if the seller will make me a deal! :)

Yes, I hope you can get a good deal on it, and pick it up.  and if you buy it and can't pick it up right away, I could hold on to it for a while!
