The VAM Lerma cars are highly interesting to us AMC guys in the States. Very few pictures of them are available online. If anyone in Mexico sees one for sale or at a show please post pictures of them here in this thread.
Ditto!
not the best lerma but still a nice one!

Is there a Mexican equivalent to ebay for selling them online? That would be a great way to get pictures. People post the most information when they have something for sale.
How hard is it to buy one from Mexico and import it?
If a Mexican collector is interested in owning an AMC Eagle, I'd drive down in one to be able to drive home in a decent Lerma.
yes there is something like ebay look for mercadolibre.com.mx you may find several vam cars for sale in good conditions, about import i´m not very sure, but it can´t be that harder either. greetings
btw i already have my eagle but maybe the other club guys would be interested in getting one, please let me know or pm back with the entire description of your bird
Those are very cool looking cars. It looks like they took a Spirit hatchback and added about 18" between the front door and the rear hatch.
Never seen one of those before now. Interesting in a strange sense although. I think I kinda like it but would really like to see one up close and personal.
and this is the 4 door version

That's just too cool!
Does the front look like a concord or a hornet?
it´s the concord style
HI I would like to know whey we did not get a 4 door hatchback In U.S.A.......I would like to have one of those
It is like the hornet 2 door hatchback o I like that .........don
It would have probably cut into Sportabout sales which, by that time, had been amortized to be a cheap car to frame and build.
Hi. Matt here. I just checked out mercadolibre.com mx amd there is a 1978 VAM Pacer and a 1982 VAM 4 dorr Lerma for sale now..
HI Matt I looked at that car the 4 door ....and I cant read mx but it looks like a nice car ...How much is 25,000

HI Doug your right about that they wanted to keep cost and competition down .....and they did not know how the us market would fell about a car from MX ...That's sad but true ..........don
That's about $2,000 US.

Sorry I didn't respond, I was busy. I don't read spanish, but my mexican friend at work told me that "mercado libre" means "free market" in english.
Someone posted this photo of the Lerma on the Facebook Den Page today.

I've been trying to remember the model name for the '79 2 dr with opera window in the back and a trunk. It was some anniversary edition "Landau" or something like that. It came from Mexico to Canada in the early '80s (possibly stolen. Back then Alberta would transfer a car on a handwritten receipt. The mob and Russians did tons of them like that)
