Title: Ring and pinion question
Post by: hillbilly on October 13, 2013, 12:09:25 AM
Will a D35 ring and pinion fit an eagles rear._Diff. case ? Would 2:76 rear and. 2:72 front gears work

I don't believe a D35 ring & pinion will fit in our D30 axles.

At one time it was customary to use a numerically-smaller ratio in the front axle than that in the rear. For instance, a 4.09 front axle would be matched with a 4.10 rear. The theory was that the front axle would pull just a bit more than the rear would push and increase stability. AMC used identical ratios in both axles without regard to previous thinking.

A 2.72 front and 2.76 rear would perhaps be OK with a part-time transfer case. I would think that's too much difference in our full-time cases with their viscous couplings.

Yes a D35 ring and pinion will fit the rear of an Eagle's AMC 15. Are you sure it's a 2.76? I can't seem to find any info on Dana 35 2.76 gears.

OK...I stand corrected. I, too, am interested in the ratio. :eagle:

I have a pair of 2.72 diffs (currently in my Eagle wagon but about to be swapped before winter so I can 4x4)
