Looks like a nice little history of the AMC Eagle.

Listed as: "AMC Eagle: American 4X4 Pioneer"

lol Pioneer...

I always compared the Eagle as a compromise between the Grand Wagoneer and Cherokee Pioneer models. The Eagle is really just a compact wagon with a massive arsenal of compatible drivetrain parts. If someone made new sheet metal for these cars the Jeeps wouldn't be so popular anymore. Based on the sales figures, this has it all and that's exactly what people wanted. Is this arrogance? Is it greed? I think it's just common sense.

The Eagle was missing a low range and a strong enough auto trans. The 5 speed was sort of weak too.
