I really would love to own an Eagle, and before I start to hunt for them, there is something I would like to know. Will I fit in it? I'm 6'5'' and have a pretty decent amount of weight on me. any replies will be appreciated. Thank you.
I"m 6'3" and fit fine, they are not huge cars, but they have a decent amount of space, IMO.
I'm 6'2" 245 and it's a little tight for me. Getting in an out requires you to bend your head a bit. But I have a bad neck, so it's a little harder for me. Where are you located? Maybe there is a member near you that would let you sit in theirs or maybe even a junkyard nearby that may have one to try out.
Im 6'3" and I do fit, I really wish however that the seat moved back and down about an inch either way, my legs are in a bit more of a "bend" than I would really like them to be.
I will be taking my seats out to have them redone and am going to try to see if there is a way to drill new holes and move them back a bit maybe!
Other than that I do fit, they are relatively small cars after all, I have sat in MUCH worse and more cramped cars
However, the coolness factor of the rest of the car really overcomes a little discomfort!!

I really hope I don't grow anymore though. Being as tall as I am is miserable. I'm in NORTH nj. The only eagle I've ever seen around here was owned by a little old lady and was beat. Well, I'm 18 and have only been an amc enthusiast for a couple years. (It all started when I got to help restore a javelin.) and since I've known what they are (and how they cool they are) I've only seen one. I really like the eagle sedans.
I'm 6'3" at 240 and I don't have any issues, but my seat's cushion is weak, so that could be it. Plus I have tilt steering, and I use it getting in and out.
I have an eagle wagon, but I also love the Sedans.
Fully adjustable powered bucket seats. It's a luxury to some, the entire reason I love driving the Eagle. I have never been so comfortable in a vehicle.
I believe you can fit old school non-adjustable bucket seats from the 70's AMCs will bolt onto the frames. They sit lower and have thinner backs as well.
I don't know how Cherokee seats fit, but they have been moved into eagles before.
What if I wanted to go ridiculously classic and put in a single long seat from an old Hornet? Would that bolt up?
My 78 amx , which is basically a hornet, has buckets and like Ben said they are thinner and sit lower
It's amazing how much more room you feel like you have inside while driving, even though its really the same car, sorta

Could someone measure the distance between of the steering wheel and the seat when moved all the way back? and the distances between the seat and the dash, the width of the seat, the height between the carpet and the bottom of the dash and the distance between the gas pedal and the front of the seat. I would like to compare the numbers to my Cherokee and see exactly how well I fit. If all goes well, i'll start to look for an Eagle

I believe those are different brackets that mount only on the outside, so they avoid the main problem with seat frames from other cars. They aren't affected by the hump modifications for the transfer case.
Theoretically a bench seat would fit. The problem may be the floor shifter. I think fleet Eagles had a column shift. Then again, it may clear the shifter just fine, and column shift was just to make the middle front seat "useable".
Not sure if this helps but I'm 6'7" and I love the way my Kammback fits, w/o a sunroof of coarse. I'm also lucky that the liner is not falling down.

I have a floor shifter but it should be fine even with the console thing. Not sure about use since I don't get THAT many passengers but the aesthetics of a bench seat appeal to me. I think it should have remained for the Concord.
6'3" here, I don't know why so many people think this is a small car... sure, it's no Lincoln Town Car, but it's still huge. I have friends who accidentally call it my "truck" all the time.
I don't know if this is the norm, but mine actually has three belts up front, and I could literally fit two of my butt in either seat..
Plenty of place, even enough room to go back, for me... but I wish the seats actually sat lower.
The seat swap BenM mentioned, if I recall, took a bit of bracket fabrication and/or a chunk of two-by-four... I've been considering it myself, because the seats sit lower, but they then become un-adjustable unless you're some sort of wizard.

It might if the hump isn't higher. I was looking into slung seats like I had in my '70 Cortina GT. Made almost like a hammock so you can sit down low but you can't stash stuff under the seat without discomfort if you are too far down.
The 2drs have a larger opening like the SX4 and 2 dr sedan.
The power seats sit higher because of the motors underneath.
The earlier 2wd tilt columns are a bit short for the Eagles, but may XJ would fit. We hooked up the column shifter in SOTE to the AW4 quite easily.
Welcome to the nest. I happen to be in Jersey also. Exit 9 on the turnpike. And I also have a sedan if you would like to try it out. It also could be yours if the price is right as I have been contemplating letting it go to a new home due to health issues and soon to be lack of a garage for it.
I never knew so many Eagle drivers were so tall lol
I'm 5'7"and find it hard to get in and out of my SX/4 because it doesn't have a tilt steering wheel. Can barely get my legs between the wheel and seat.
Of course if you are taller you probably have the seat pushed farther back!
Without the tilt though it's still hard. Got in an SX4 and it's tight for me unless it has tilt.
Yes, I'm with Rafe. Getting in and out of the SX/4 without tilt steering can be awkward at times, especially since it's so high off the ground. It might actually be easier if you have longer legs, but taller/larger people have struggled to get into my passenger seat. The SX/4 even has bigger doors, so you'd think it would be easier. Then again, my passenger seat feels like it's gonna break when you sit in it because the mechanism is a piece of junk.
Just don't ever try to sit in the back of any 2-door Eagle. It will be painful.
My Ambassador is a bit tough to get into as well as it does not have tilt and its doors are really long. My SX/4 is a bit easier because of the tilt wheel, along with the Concord sedan for the same reason. I am about 6' 2".
