Not really a Discovery, as we were planning to go out after the snow was gone. Brian is having most of the cars junked, as his family is selling the property, so the cars gotta go.
El Matador and I drove from Calgary to Sask (just north of Saskatoon) to Brian's Family acreage. He has several AMC's from different eras. there's even a Nash Metropolitan there.
there's like two Javelins, several Ambassadors, eagles, concords, Ramblers, Spirits... Here's a video overview:

Dean and I left friday, drove the 8 hours, and met up with Brian. We got a tour of the lot and then Dean and I checked into a motel. Got up early the next day, and we started stripping. Dean was still going at it after the sun crested the horizon.
we hit the Motel and got up Sunday, did some last minute stripping, and then loaded up the van. I only took a few 'much needed' items, but as usual, Dean took everything he could. We basically filled a extended cargo van.
I'm not sure how long the cars are gonna be there, but I believe it's gonna be days to maybe a week or two (at the most).
I'll post some pictures whenever my computer decides to communicate with my phone. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't.
We got lots of stuff, but had to leave so much behind that I could easily make that trip again and make it worthwhile. I may have to ask Bryan to set aside a couple of things for me to bring with him next time he's out this way.
Bryan was a very good host to us, and basically let us roam his field and take whatever we could in exchange for some beer money. For those who aren't aware, beer is an official form of currency in Canada. :occasion14: OK, maybe I exaggerated just a bit.
thanks for the video guys,
WOW, lots of stuff there, looks like a fun day of scavenging!!

Here is a link to the pictures. Everything was just sitting in a couple of piles at this point, before we loaded it all into the van. You have to look closely to see what all is there. I think we actually added a bit more after these were taken, like two more fenders for example.

What about the Javelin and the other rare cars? Are they just going for scrap?

The black '70 Javelin (originally BBG I believe) already has a new owner and will be hauled away shortly. The Rebel convertible is Bryan's own project and will be saved, along with some of the other Rebels as parts donors for it. The Spirit with alloy wheels is another of Bryan's project cars and is safe. The '57 Rambler Super (with factory V8) will be spared. The grey '80 Concord is reserved for me.
Other than that, it's crunch time.
Glad to hear the Javelin has a home.
I am glad you guys made it out.
I enjoyed the time with other AMC junkies and the fact that you have saved a LOT of parts for future use is a bonus.
I figure a month before I call the crusher and send them all to china.
It has been a good 25 years of storage and parts but now I will have to deal with the 3 yards that are hidden in the fields locally.
I will post some pic's of their eagles jeeps and hornets.
Thanks again guys for stripping the cars.
Dean. I know the skid plate is one item and a few of the non computer carbs.
Let me know anything else and if I have time I will pull.
Bryan
Dean, I forgot to ask how your wife took the influx of parts.
I hope you prepared her for it.

By the way Brian, remember when I cut out that rear quarter panel for my eagle? Ya, well I took the wrong side... Stupid me... Is it too much to ask if you could cut me a similar sized section out of the other side? If it is, no biggie.
but if you can, and bring it down with you to Calgary, I'll throw you some more beer money.
I will see how the time and ambition go. but should be able to.

I guess El Matador is right, beer is an official form of currency in canada

i wish that the yard was near me because i like the grimie. and as far as beer being currency my online racing buddies from canada conferm it to be true. :rotfl:

actually, skip that request. Tony is gonna cut the proper panel off the eagle he's stripping here in Calgary and is gonna junk. But thank you for that.
You already have enough to do.
teamamc (at) gmail.com (I did that to keep the webcrawlers at bay.) but it's the At symbol (@) and no spaces.
I put up a video of the "Haul" Well, it was 98% Dean's haul, as I only took a few things I needed, and some stuff for Pat
