I'm a very large guy and am currently wearing a hard tortoise-shell brace. I cannot fit behind the wheel of my newly acquired Eagle Wagon. Even putting the current tilt-wheel "up" still doesn't provide enough room. Is there a smaller steering wheel available?
Its a gm saginaw wheel. look to similar year aftermarket gm wheels.
Thank you.
Congrats on your new wagon!! I would think that any number of after market wheels would fit.
Thanks. I can't wait to drive it - First of May! It needs lots of things and I'm sure I'll have other questions. I am not a mechanic at all - I know how to open the hood and that's about it. I am hoping to find an AMC mechanic around here (Toledo, OH) so someone familiar with the car and its known quirks can work on it. So, for now, it sits and I get to look at it, touch it, start it, be proud of it!
There's a lot of knowledge here on the Eagle Nest so don't be afraid to ask. These cars aren't that complicated (ok, well maybe they're kind of complicated) and they are fun to work on.
Jeep shops are the ones to ask. Most who work on CJs and early YJs should be at home with the drivetrain (FSJs '80 up too)
I have this style in my Pacer:

It's lower and you sit further back, but the back is non-adjustable. It should fit the seat frame rails on the Eagle, I think all AMC seats are interchangeable that way.
I believe it's just their sport bucket seat. The Eagle got a more luxurious seat standard, and you could get the pillow top on the limited models.
But it's a thought if you're interested.
