Title: 1983 SX/4 E Brake Cable
Post by: Kippnidaho on February 19, 2013, 09:23:57 PM
All,
I am looking to fix the ebrake. The front cable is frozen up. On the auction site they list two different cables, and list them by length. Does anybody have a measurement on the the cable, and or is there a place to buy one specifically for the 83 SX/4.
Thanks as always for the help.

79.5 inches.   Should be readily available from many aftermarket brands/sources.    Check Rock Auto; probably is cheaper there.

So this is how it is listed Inner Cable Length = 79-1/2" Outer Cable Length = 66-3/4",  22.95 + 9 for shipping, so this is what I need?
How much of a PITA is it to replace?

The clips holding the ends in are the toughest. I use a screw style gas line hose clamp to collapse them

That's a great tip. I've always dreaded that part of working on brakes.  Thanks.

Received new E-Brake cable. Used Carnuck's suggestion used the hose clamp. Removed and replaced the cable. Adjusted works great. Another task completed.......
