I am looking for someone to do a rebuild on my AM/FM/CB radio. I would like to keep the car stock and functional. Also the antennas, CB and Radio run to a splitter then to the radio antenna. In this configuration did the CB work very well?

my suggestion would be to find a good CB shop, usually found near truck shops. my old realistic 23 channel died last year. it took some searching but i found a shop down in colorado that was able to fix it for a reasonable charge. it was the first CB radio i bought back in the early 70's so i did not want to get rid of it. LAZ

I'm looking at an AM/FM/CB/CD/blue tooth setup (blue tooth goes in the antenna line so it will look bone stock) but I can't afford it for a few months at least. (It'll have to come out if I sell my wagon anyways)

Do you have an amplifier inside the glove compartment? That's a very rare feature available. The CB is already a very rare option.

It's a pretty slick setup that seemed to work very well. Your radio and your CB share the same antenna. Your CB antenna is actually about 10 inches longer than a normal AMC antenna would be. If a short normal antenna was screwed into your base, it will burn out the CB radio when you try to transmit. My neighbor bought a 1979 AMX new from the factory and went through three of them before the dealership realized that the antenna was wrong. Likewise be careful to never transmit while something is unplugged.

I have the amp in my glovebox but I'm not sure if it's hooked to the current AM/FM/ (cassette?)

It appears I have the tall antennae. No amplifier, the radio does seem to work but  not very well. That is why I am trying to find somebody to repair it, go through it and give it a tune up.

My 78 Matador coupe has the factory CB and it works okay, it doesn't work nearly as well as a newer CB with full size tuned antennae.  There are several companies online that will rebuild your radio with the CB. A google search found redwoodradio.com and joesclassiccarradio.com.

Not to get too off topic, but weren't these CB/Radio's manufactured by a Japanese company....Sanyo maybe?

actually i think it was Mitsubishi, but if you can wait a few days i may be yanking mine (it's front is all messed up) for a newer style radio with a cd player.

I repair the am/fm/cb combo radios  and have been repairing amc radios for 30 years, and been repairing cb's of all types for 40 years
