Just wondering because I was looking at a few, and if someone already had experience making one fit nicely I figured it would be good to know which one they had luck with.
I'm not sure which one you're referring to. I look at the ceiling speaker bar from an early 90's cherokee. It was a little too wide for a wagon, so I knew it was too wide for a Kammback. You could make it fit but it would require a fair amount of trimming and then recovering....then I wasn't sure how you could easily mount it to the ceiling.

If I can't do the wellnuts for the roof rack mounts, properly, I'm just going to run bolts through the roof (heresy, I know), and fabricate a similar one (but low profile and with drop down visors since mine are toast), and mount it to the roof rack bolts in the front.
I haven't decided for sure, just a thought.
If I do I might stick an outside thermometer and a compass up there while I'm at it... maybe some led map lights.

I think I'd have to make one, I'm not going to be happy with any of the ones I've seen so far.

It occurred to me the other day, do people do post 96 4.0 swaps to get odbII?
I don't want to, I'm going the opposite route, eliminating electronics... and though a thermometer and compass sound neat, they would be standalone units, I don't want no fancy computers controlling my car!
I installed an overhead console from a Grand Cherokee in my Eagle, but didn't attempt to wire in the factory compass or thermometer. I've totally removed the display and the board that went with it. I may try to find an aftermarket that I could install that would look decent.

I agree, retrofitting a standalone compass/thermometer would be the easiest.
Do you know what year of grand cherokee it came out of?
I think it was around a 95. They were in the Grand Cherokees for several years in the 90s, this is one of the earlier versions since it had the little bubble sticking down for the remote entry sensor. I put a blue LED in there that is on whenever the car is on. I had it recovered when I had the new headliner installed.
Here is a picture of the speaker bar from an early 90s Cherokee, although I think this one has had it's cloth cover removed as well as the speaker covers. 83Eagle! was looking at installing one in his wagon. I found one in the junkyard and test fit it in an Eagle wagon that was also there. It's a little too wide and would need some trimming, possibly cut it in two, take out some from the middle, and bond it back together. I'm not sure how it would be mounted in a wagon as I'm not familiar with any of the roof reinforcements that may be there.
