Title: Bad news nest...Eagle gone :(
Post by: drock87 on December 26, 2012, 01:46:12 PM
Hello everyone.  I have really bad news  :'(  The other night I fell asleep at the wheel in the wee hours of the morning and crashed my Eagle.  I did not have full coverage on it, and as far as my budget is concerned, it is a loss. (The front passenger side of the car is pretty well done in...bumper, fender and suspension components and who knows what else is toast)  I do not want to junk the vehicle without first offering up parts.  I will be parting it out and auctioning what I deem valuable eventually, but here are some unique/good characteristics of it.

1985 Sport wagon.  Silver over red. Manual windows/locks. 113k.
Full instrumentation/sport steering wheel.
Seats are as perfect as a 27 year old, 113k car can be.  No holes, rips or tears, etc.
GRONK carb (I might just hang on to this for a while...)
Original mats and cargo cover.

Please let me know if there is anything you need me to save.  I will be selling the parts, but as cheaply as I can to people here.

I will post for sale posts as soon as I can get the car back to my house and start taking it apart.

Thanks everyone.  I do intend to remain active here as I can help, and I will be keeping an eye on the Cars for sale section for another.  I am devastated.

Sorry to hear.  :'( Do you have the space to keep the Eagle in case you find another one that might need an engine, etc.? How about fixing the sheet metal and doing a solid axle up front to replace the bad suspension parts?  >:D

Eaglefreek, I really do not have a place to keep it.  I don't mind bringing it back from the tow yard to take parts off, etc, but having a non-mobile vehicle in my drive really makes things difficult.  Especially living in the city.  I honestly wish I could and then just keep a look out for another with a garnet red interior to put seats, gauge pod, etc in, but it just isn't practical for me. Ugh.... :( Solid front would be AWESOME though!

Sorry to hear about your Eagle. I hope you were not hurt in the crash, and that you can find a replacement ASAP.

Sorry to hear that your eagle is gone. The important thing is that you are safe. There will always be another eagle, there can never be another one of you.

Sorry to hear about the Eagle. Good thing it was only the Eagle damaged and you came out ok.

That sucks. The Sport station wagons are so rare and so pretty. I do suggest selling it whole to someone who has a good body worthy of swapping your interior and drivetrain. Please hold on to it for as long as you can. Where is it located?

I want your rear window trim! The chrome pops off with gentle use of a screwdriver in very small increments around the entire window. Some plastic pieces may break and that's okay, its the chrome pieces that I need.

The corner chrome piece actually has a screw under the adjacent chrome piece, so be gentle with that.

The black trim piece around the window pops off after you get the chrome. Those trim pieces are unique to 1980 Eagles and Sport Eagles through 1985, so they're relatively rare. Private message me for further details.

My 81 had those also and think they really make the Eagle look "sportier". If I had the cash, I'd be up there in a second to buy the car.

It has a safe home here in Eastern PA if someone figures out how to get it here. I figure about 6 hours drive time. My transportation funds are limited but that's something I'll look at.

Glad you are ok.  That is first and foremost.

If you do part it out...what is it geared at?  I have an eye out for the proper carrier that will allow for the 3.54 gearing.

Glad to hear you came out OK. You'll find another eagle in time. Find a way to save your parts. Good luck!

Hey, thanks everyone! I appreciate it.  I'm going to be getting it home in a couple days. Captspillane, I'll PM you in a few.

Mine is the stock 2.35 gears. Fun, right?

I am planning on keeping a few things, but everything is pretty much for sale. If they don't sell, I am definitely keeping the gauge pack and console and maybe the instrument cluster because my tach actually works. Someone has PM'd me regarding the carb and I am thinking I may sell it because, well, I could use the money.

Of course, whenever I get my next one, it will have a garnet interior (just because of my luck...my previous from 10 years ago was garnet) and I will be  :censored:  when I realized I didn't keep something or whatever.  It is almost guaranteed!

I will donate a good 1986 rust free  body to anyone who will collect it from southeast Arkansas.  It was a limited originally and I can provide the emblems.  It has a few wrinkled spots but nothing too serious.  The body is stripped but it will come stuffed full of parts, including tranny and transfer case.

Hey Nest! Long time; sorry I have been so quiet.  My car has just been sitting in my drive for a while, so I wanted to provide an update. Captspillane came and picked it up a few days ago (and I really need to post pics of this; it was amazing to see his abilities of getting a three-wheeled car onto a tow dolly!).  He says that it is totally repairable, so while I am not sure of the actual fate it will incur, it will most likely be a driving fate for sure!  And thank you to all who asked; I was fine in the accident.  All of the damage to the car was on the passenger side, so while I was jostled quite a bit, I was perfectly fine.  I hope to be more active again.
