Title: wrong window
Post by: SpreadEagle on December 20, 2012, 10:54:59 PM
Had to get a passenger door window for the Kammback. When I got it I found it to be too long. What front door glass actually fits that door?

Yes a Kammy.  The window they sent me is way too long. Shipping was as much as the window.

I'm thinking the small cars don't use the longer doors like the 2-door Concord and Eagle, but the shorter doors like the 4-door big cars.

There was some discussion about the window frames being different between the big cars and the small cars, the small cars tilt in more, but the rest of the door is the same.

Right I called the place and they swear this came off a Kammback.. I know they are wrong. Going to send them a whole bunch of pictures.. The shape is right but if I'm looking right the window is way too long.. Maybe I'm looking at it wrong though. Just came to me..

Anyone have a photo on here on what the tracks look like in the door where they connect to the window?

There is a huge difference between 4 door short doors and 2 door long doors. All 2 door Eagles have long doors.

The SX4 and Kammback door is exactly the same, and they share the exact same metal components as the Two door Sedan door until the frame is welded. The rear part of the window frame is positioned about a half inch lower in the factory and welded in place lower. The metal pieces and interior panels themselves are identical. The glass is identical.

The only thing I'm not confident about is the position of the holes in the glass in the 2 door sedans. They may be slightly different to make it lean differently. It's my understanding that they only used the adjustment of the door to compensate for the slight difference in tilt to the frame, in which case the glass will be totally identical. Keep in mind the window is up in a groove and doesn't need to be perfectly parallel to the window frame.

Just saying that the Window did fit.

and it was a window from a 71 Gremlin.  the plastic washers were different but it had no issues getting installed, Least once I went to a professional and they installed from the outside.
