Title: Engine wont start (not sure if this belongs here)
Post by: ANT85MAR on December 05, 2012, 11:42:51 AM
Last time my Eagle was running was a month ago. Week before Thanksgiving I went to start car and it didn't. I figured dead battery, went to Sears to find out battery was discontinued & got some money back on my battery. I asked question here about battery, thanks to responses I got bought an Interstate group 56 battery on Black Friday. Still didn't start & since then I have replaced the solenoid, ignition module, horn relay (horn didn't work) and starter.
Still doesn't start, starter doesn't even make any noise or turn over. Used tester on all fuses I could get to & they seem good.
Just wondering if anyone had this problem before & what they did to fix it.

Did you use a volt meter to check voltage at the solenoid? You want to see if you are getting power to the wire going to the "S" terminal on the solenoid when turning the key to the start position. Also, you need to check all wires and connections to the battery, solenoid and starter.

If it's an auto, make sure the hidden wire on the bottom of the solenoid is still connected.

Neutral Safety Switch on the trans (if auto) may be unplugged as well. The center pin grounds the pin on the back of the solenoid. You can test this by adding a ground wire to that pin and see if it starts.
