Post by: el-camino on November 05, 2012, 01:26:08 PM
hi all
a have a small problem.
yesterday i installed a tachometer, its a original one.
the tach have only two wires.
I have one connected to switched power 12v, the other one to the TACH output on the HEI distributor.
it does not work properly.
The needle jumps up and down and goes max to 3000rpm not higher ?
what´s the problem?

Check your ground 1st but the factory tachs are known to fail in a similar manner to what you are describing.

Junk the factory tach and send vangremlin a text. He can fix you up with one of his tachs.
