Time to address my faulty tach on my kammback. When I turn the key to on position (w/o starting the engine) the needle goes to 4500rpm. After starting the engine , at idle, the needle creeps up to 5000 then up to 5500. Does this sound like a bad tach or just a bad ground or something else. The engine is never running that fast. Any ideas would be appreciated.

Sounds like a bad body to battery ground feedback is causing the problem (hopefully it didn't burn it out)

Thanks, I've seen that thread from vangremlin. It's excellent. If I can't get mine going, I will certainly give that a shot.
If you do figure it out let me know, I've had several eagles with the tach and only one ever works....for like a month....then it too did the bouncy thing before completly kicking the bucket. I never did try tearing into one of these.

Still working on a solution for the tach. I still think it is ground related...hope to find out for sure in next couple of days.

Gave up on the stock tach and went the Vangremlin way. It came out really nice.
