anybody know what the torque specs are for a 4.0 valve springs? keep in mind i got the 4.0 head swap on my 4.2 block. my buddy seems to think i should retorque them cause of alot of backfires through the carburator.

There is no way to torque or retorque the valve springs. Do you mean the rocker arms? If so, if they were too loose or too tight I don't think it would cause any backfiring. The torque specs for the rocker arms is 21 ft/lbs.
are you still using the stock cam and lifters? if you switched to an aftermarket cam you could be experiencing flattened lobes on the cam. or even flat lobes on the stock cam

ok. id just pull the cover, (i know, sounds easy, isnt always) have someone crank it and watch to see if all the rockers move fully. also check the torque and see if any pushrods seem bent. also, maybe make sure your timing is still right maybe? i guess im kinda being worst case here.
