Yes, I used a steering box out of a Jeep Grand Cherokee and love it. However, some may not like how firm the steering is at low speeds. A regular Cherokee would also be an upgrade and not as firm.
also theres an s10 one thats supposed to work with non power steering. but im not sure which one, i remember readin it at one of the amc forums.

Eaglefreek, what years of Grand Cherokee's will work for the swap? Thanks.

If you wanted a quicker box for more sporty type steering, you could use one from certain gm intermediates from the 80's era with option code F41, MonteCarlo SS, T-Type/GN, 442/Salon/calais, GP 2+2 to name a few, these models will have a faster ratio box, where as there common base models have the identical box to our eagles, lol (even same part #). There is always the f body box that's suppose to fit into the gm intermediate which is said to be the same as the F41 box, but I'm unsure of the year range on that.
In the research that I did, the ZJ box has the same ratio as the F41 box at 12.7:1, but has a 3 turns to lock vs 2.5 turns as the F41. So your turning radius will be reduced.
the internal stops may be different or someone calculated that wrong. I was looking at using a Grand Wagoneer box if I go oversized (33" or more) tires like on my '87 MJ (which will be for sale soon.)
Thanks for the info guys, is there an A-1 Cardone or Acdelco part number floating around for this f41 box option?
Cardone part # 27-6550
Delco part # 36-0516561
Thanks guys, much appreciated
Here's some good info on Saginaw steering boxes:

I think I may change my name to Google, because I spend WAY TOO MUCH time on the net searching stuff.

:rotfl: I know how ya feel sometimes, except, a walking cross reference guide, hahaha.
i have question concerning the power steering lines go thread in on the Grand Cherokee box's are they the same as ours or would i need to get differant lines to make it work.
The threads were the same as my 86. If all years had the same hoses, it will work.
