Is there an easy way to remove black spray paint from my flares? They are rubber for anyone not familiar. Someone spray painted them but not it's chipped here and there. I'd like to remove it all. Tried gasoline and acetone.. they both remove the black but it's painfully slow.
You might try some of the citrus based paint stripper you can get at Home Depot or Lowe's.
I'll check it out. Thanks.
x2 on the stripper. Look closely at the bottle though and make sure it is safe for plastics. Some of them are pretty aggressive and ok for wood and metal but will soften or etch plastic.
Eagles flares are made of Kraton. It is basically a synthetic rubber. It should be somewhat chemical resistant, but I would be careful with a chemical stripper. Personally, I would wet sand them, it would take quite a bit longer, but it will definitely be safer.
I wet sanded my endcaps with some very fine sandpaper. It worked very well, and did not scratch the material at all.
What grit would be considered very fine? Like 1000?
