Post by: kajsdf on June 02, 2012, 10:45:59 AM
got the 727 in finally and it's awesome based on a short test drive. however i was wondering if anyone had knowledge of proper kickdown adjustment - that is the final adjustment needed. thanks

No rocket science involved.
For basic adjustment, make sure the engine is warm or at least that the choke is off and not on high idle. Release the nuts  on the kickdonw rod adjustment and push the rod back and tighten the nuts again.
Make a test drive. Mine was shifting late after this basic adjustment.
I adjusted the kickdown rod 3/8" forward and then it was just fine.

i have lost count of how many times you have helped me out.  thanks a bunch.  all the jeep forums i was scouring were full of information that wasn't quite adding up (had to get a tf999 flexplate, lokar performance kickdown specially made for this conversion, etc)

Here is some interesting info, when you scroll down a bit.
A number of styles of kickdown levers:

If the lever is the same as on the TF998, you will probably be OK.
An additional check is to is to see if WOT can still be reached and is not limited by the kickdown rod.

I switched the linkages from the 998 to the 727 and just adjusted the 998's rod to work. Not as sweet as Lokar, but the upshift points are correct now.
