Title: Throttle rod/cable linkage clips
Post by: lapoltba on June 01, 2012, 01:55:04 PM
Anyone have a part number for the little clippy-dos that are used on the throttle linkages?  One of mine is about to fall apart and the one for the throttle cable to rod is completely gone.

Thanks!  :occasion14:

Well, my parts book shows only the rod assemblies, which include the thingies that hold the rod onto the ball studs.  These clippie things are not a seperate piece.  Are we talking about the same clippie things??  Have a pic??

No pic, but i'm sure you are looking at the same thing i'm talking about.  I did look at the parts diagram and found exactly what you did, only the assembly.  Looking on the jeep forums it seems that they are in the same boat, they're unobtanium.  It's maybe 1/4" diameter 1/2" long.  Spilt spring clip that holds the ball end into the throttle cable.

I saw a solution after searching google for a while.  Someone took those spring hose clamps you would use on vacuum and low pressure fuel lines and cut the tabs off.  Looks like it would work well so i'll probably try that.  Link below...

That style of thingie seems to be used on just about every American car from the '70's and '80's.   Any Pick & Pull yards close by where you can go grab some used ones??   Just pry them off the cable ends.

Mine were pretty tired also.  I found a universal throttle linkage socket that should work; Dorman part #RB41032.  Get two of them, unscrew to old balls from the linkage and screw in the new ones, add a piece of threaded rod between the two sockets, adjust to the correct size and you're good to go.  AutoPartsExpress.com has them for $5.49 each.

The Eaglenest store did sell them. Don't know if the store is in business any more or not.

I got mine from a Yamaha or an e-z go golf cart I can't remember but they fit perfectly.

If you could somehow come up with a part number or the model/year they were for I would be EXTREMELY appreciative.....   :hello2:

Last I knew (a post I read from a few months ago) it was not open for business.  I sent a PM for info. I haven't had much luck locating them myself.
