Title: Need new Transmission dip stick.
Post by: Eagle1984 on May 21, 2012, 01:10:19 AM
Hello, not sure if this has been asked before but today after checking my oil transmission level. Which the oil level was fine, still a red pink(have never really smelled the fluid thought to see if it smell burnt, replaced it about 5,000 miles ago) my dip stick crack on one side near the 3 curves. Tried to bend it back and it broke. Are there any places that happen to sell new ones or anyone that has a extra. My eagle is a 1984 Sedan with the 4.2 straight six. Transmission is the Chrysler 3-speed auto.
Also just wondering what fluid is best. I am using a brand from o'really's that says it is certified for all Dextron II and III brands. Thanks for the help.

Would something like this work?

It's often same price and faster to order one from a local transmission shop like I did.

Go aftermarket with a Lokar one. I would've put one from a Dodge van in my wagon. It bring it up next to the valve cover.

really. I thought it would only accept specific ones. Could you list a page for the Lokar one?

$60 for a dipstick!? Spend less and as a bonus you keep the Eagle as it left the factory.

Like I said, those prices aren't so hot. I just didn't have time to look them up on one of the hotrod sites.
