Title: Interior Color?
Post by: EagleJoe93 on May 09, 2012, 02:10:04 PM
I am a little confused with what the correct interior color name is. Is it Nutmeg or Honey?  ???

Also, does anyone know what I can do for discolored interior plastic? You can see it here.

Looks like Honey to me. Nutmeg is darker.

The steering wheel is definitely honey...the seats look nutmegish...but maybe not...here is my nutmeg.

Yeah...after second look I'd definitely say it's honey.

Thanks everyone. I think that it is a honey interior. Wanted to know because if a possible vacation to Wisconsin comes to being, if at all possible, I would want to raid the junkyards for eagle parts. The junkyards around me scrap anything more than ten years old.  >:(

I live in a smaller town and we really only have one junkyard and they do the same thing...I asked if they had any Eagles or AMC of any kind and they were like there ain't no money to be made in older cars like that. They did have some wiper arms from a Cherokee for me...15 bucks a piece!!! UHG

No money to be made in older cars?!? I would think that there is a ton of money to be made, considering how many people restoring cars want to use authentic OEM parts and not reproduction parts.

Most salvage yards aren't the pull it yourself type of yards and do most of their business with body shops and auto repair shops. They want to keep cars that they can make a few bucks off of and quick, space=money.

That makes sense. I actually didn't know body shops get parts from junkyards. I thought they ordered them new. I still think there is a market for antique car parts. I would love it if I could just drive to a junkyard and get whatever part I need for my eagle. A whole parts car would be better, but the area I live in doesn't like that stuff in peoples yards.

Interior plastic can be painted with SEM Color Coat.
Yours appears to be the same color as my 88, and I used 15173, Camel.
Look at the interior of the 88 I have up for sale.  I painted the console with SEM and it matches the rest pretty well.

Thanks for the info jim. The plastic wheel wells in the back have turned this white gray kind of color. It's one of the few things that keep my interior from being in mint condition.

Some use junk yard parts and charge the customer for new parts.

Is that so? Well that goes to show how far researching a reputable garage can be.

Much of the interior of the blue 83 had turned a similar color.  I used SEM Blue Mist on it and it has lasted 7 or 8 years.
